Week 1: maps, language, belonging

The first poem discussed was 

                           The Chaffinch Map of Scotland by Edwin Morgan (1975)

This is a concrete poem showing a stylised map of Scotland made out of local dialect words for "Chaffinch". Reactions to this were very strong, ranging from "That's not a poem!" through confusion to delight at "how clever this is".
